The story

From a promise on a plane to a base in the savannah

In 2014 a few brothers from Vechile Cărări church in Rădăuți spent two weeks at Guzabandu Mission in South Africa. The promises made on the flight home faded after landing in Bucharest. Months later, pastor Sami Trif from Craiova spoke at Maranata Rădăuți about a mission he had visited in Namibia and invited people to go.

Cristina and her husband were the first to sign. About 21 people from Rădăuți, Vicov, Dej, Arad and Craiova reached the Kalahari base while it was still fragile. A Romanian committee was formed to support that base and, in time, to open others. In autumn 2022 the committee sent them to take up, from the beginning, a work in Zambia that a sister from Austria had wanted to start while she was caring for two very sick children.

Building the Libala clinic together

The public appeal asked for a 200 m² building, a construction crew, solar power and a well, medical equipment and medicine, and long-term training for local doctors. The published budget was €30,000, with a target of June 2026. Write to us for where the work stands now.
